How we research

Clear sources. Useful context. Honest limits.

Start with a reader’s question

We organize each guide around a buying decision or a practical task. Similar search queries belong in the same article when they describe the same need. We update existing guides when that provides the clearer answer.

Keep evidence in its lane

Manufacturer pages and manuals support specifications and instructions. Independent tests describe results under their stated conditions. Owner reviews describe individual experiences. Editorial calculations and recommendations are labeled as our analysis.

We do not turn another person’s experience into a claim that we tested the product. A research-based label means documentation analysis, not ownership or hands-on testing.

Read owner feedback with context

When available, we record the model or variant, review date, rating, and relevant experience. We remove duplicates and explain the sample size. Patterns in a collected sample do not establish a population-wide defect rate. If we cannot obtain verifiable reviews, we say so.

Use video sources transparently

We retain source links and timestamps for video evidence. Transcripts establish what was said; claims that depend on a demonstration or on-screen measurement need the relevant visual evidence. Automatic captions may misidentify model names or numbers.

Explain conflicts and gaps

When sources disagree, we describe the discrepancy or leave the claim unresolved. We do not fill missing evidence with plausible details. Every article shows its sources, update date, and research scope.

Publish and revisit

AI tools may assist with discovery, drafting, and formatting. Before publication, factual claims are checked against the recorded sources and the page is checked for readability and working links. An updated date reflects a content review or substantive revision, not an automatic date refresh.

Commercial relationships

Purchase links that earn a commission will be identified near the link. Commercial relationships should not decide our conclusions. See the affiliate disclosure for the current setup.
