Core 300S-P room size: what the numbers mean

Why 219 and 1,051 square feet can appear on the same listing—and how to compare coverage on equal terms.

Two numbers, two air-change targets

The official listing gives these area/ACH pairs:

Listed area Associated air changes per hour
219 sq ft 4.8 ACH
1,051 sq ft 1 ACH

ACH describes an hourly airflow-to-room-volume ratio. It does not mean every particle has been removed. Comparing the area while dropping the ACH condition loses the distinction that makes these figures useful.

Check the arithmetic yourself

The same listing gives a CADR of 141 cubic feet per minute. To illustrate the relationship, assume an eight-foot ceiling and a target of 4.8 air changes per hour:

Area ≈ CADR × 60 ÷ (ceiling height × ACH)

That produces 141 × 60 ÷ (8 × 4.8) ≈ 220 square feet. Changing only the target to 1 ACH gives about 1,058 square feet.

These are our calculations using the listed CADR and an explicit ceiling-height assumption. The small difference from the published figures reflects approximate inputs; it is not a measurement of this purifier or a guarantee for your room.

Keep your comparison consistent

Suppose two listings show different maximum areas. First check whether both use the same ceiling height and ACH target. If one uses one air change and the other uses nearly five, comparing those headline areas will not tell you which better matches your room.

The EPA’s household guide recommends matching particle CADR to room size. Use its guidance alongside product information when deciding what capacity to investigate.

Think about the setting you will use

The series manual describes Sleep Mode as lower than the first regular fan speed. It does not provide a separate Sleep Mode CADR in the material used for this article. We therefore cannot assign the headline capacity to that setting.

If overnight use is your main requirement, look for evidence about airflow and sound at the intended setting. A maximum-output specification leaves that question open.

Make a room-specific decision

Measure length and width, note ceiling height, and describe whether the space is a single room or opens into others. Then compare products against the same target and operating conditions.
